GHOULIES & GHOSTIES
	Effie Dodds 11 ❧ d. 1581 Effie's grandmother, the cook for the laird of Blackburn Hall, had the raising of Effie. The old woman was accused and convicted of witchcraft when Effie was eleven. Young Effie died during her grandmother's execution when a soldier hit the child in the head to keep her from throwing herself at the bonfire. She first manifested three years later. Effie was a rascally child and is an equally rascally ghost. She likes pretties and shinies and, like a magpie, is wont to collect them. She'll also play little jokes, none of them harmful, and tends to tease the people she likes most. Her pranks take a darker turn if she is somehow angered. She particularly dislikes those who are cruel to animals or children. Effie is a scruffy child, usually wearing a shift and skirt.
	Archibald Patterson 16 ❧ d. 1916 Young Archie was very keen to go and be a soldier, so keen he lied about his age. That might have worked had the lad not proven to be flat footed. When his older cousin, Thomas Drummond, was killed in France, leaving no heirs, Archie was summoned to the big house by his wealthy uncle to be groomed as his successor. The boy was woefully inadequate, all legs and thumbs, with a cowlick that made his hair a hang over his eyes. He often broke the simplest of items just by holding them. Door knobs would come loose in his hands, platters broke, and he categorically proved incapable of learning how to either ride a hunter or squire a young lady around a dance floor. Still, you work with what you have. Archie died at his sixteenth birthday party from a fall down the grand staircase. He tends to wear an argyle slipover and breeches.
	Miss Jennifer (Jenny) MacCailin 21 ❧ d. 1808 Jenny was one of three sisters of the house (the eldest) who made an excellent match with Angus Conroy, the Laird of Wigtownshire. Her jealous middle sister took exception to her sibling's good fortune and began slipping arsenic into her tea. Jenny soon succumbed, leaving the way for murderess Elizabeth to marry Conroy. Death did not put Jenny off her love of tea; however. She's been known to invite the living to her little soirees.
	Hamish MacInnerny 72 ❧ d. 1952 Hamish died of old age. A former gardener for Drummond House, he swore he'd never leave what he considered "his" land. Angry and crotchety while live, Hamish has yet to change his ways since his death. He particularly hates modern electronics. Any music players near him soon switch to Scottish pipes or bloody Scottish border ballads while the telly will only play farm reports or football.
	Dash ? ❧ d. 1847 Old Dash is a mongrel of indeterminate terrier variety who starved to death waiting for his young mistress to return home after she had been transported to Australia for stealing food from the kitchens. Dash loves to play fetch and chase cats. He has a love/hate relationship with Puss. He also makes an excellent watchdog. He can sometimes be heard howling during a full moon.
